Meet our SOCIAL Babe of the month, Melitsa Waage. Author, female entrepreneur, and creator of Epic Talks Miami.
In 2018, Melitsa started “Epic Talks", a networking and connecting event that takes place once a month throughout South Florida.
We were are honored to chat with Melitsa and learn more about whats next for this boss babe! You can read our interview with her below:
WHAT'S A TYPICAL DAY IN YOUR LIFE LOOK LIKE?
5:30 AM Wake up time! Within the first 45 minutes of waking up I meditate and write down 5 things I'm grateful for and why. I have a quick breakfast and then hit the gym for 90 minutes. I'm usually back home by 8 AM and have a protein shake.
I spend the next few hours checking emails and I block my times from 9am-12pm strictly for client calls. I like keeping myself constantly in work mode. I love what I do and its so much fun for me that I normally end my day around 9pm.
WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR PASSIONS?
Some of my passions include my event Epic Talks. That is why I host these events almost every month. I truly love connecting people and helping individuals in every area of their lives. I also have a movement called "Backpack Attack" where I gift backpacks to underprivileged kids whose parents cant afford school supplies. Aside from Epic Talks, I enjoy working out and staying in shape. I also love cooking, when I'm in the kitchen it's like therapy for me. Lastly, if you know me, you know I LOVE Dancing...I'm Puertorican so it runs in my blood!
WHAT IS EPIC TALKS?
Epic talks is the #1 Networking Event in South Florida. Business professionals and entrepreneurs are able to get together every month to network, connect, and listen to some incredible leaders. These speakers are experts in different areas of business and they come to Epic Talks to tell their stories and educate our community on their secrets to success. Every speaker is EPIC!
WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR FAVORITE EVENT AND WHY?
MY favorite event has been Epic Talks. Why? Because I created this event from a place of lack in my life. I was attending networking events and leaving unfulfilled, with nothing tangible that I could go home with that would help my thrive in my life or business. So I thought to myself, there has to be a better way. This is how it ALL started! Epic Talks is a representation of who I am. When you come to an Epic Talks event, you come to an experience that is only going to amplify your life. There is great music, delicious food, entertainment, singers, dancers and refreshing cocktails! (like SOCIAL Sparkling) But most importantly, amazing networking and the ability to connect with some of the top leaders in South Florida. And to top it all off, we always have incredible speakers on our stage who come to educate us on how to take your life and business to the next level. It's a networking event like you've never seen before!
WITH THE IMPACT OF COVID ON LIVE EVENTS HOW HAVE YOU RESPONDED?
I restarted Epic Talks right in the middle of the pandemic on the last Wednesday of July 2020. I refused to watch my baby completely disappear because fo this unfortunate situation. I followed all Covid regulations and found locations where I was able to invite my community and have events in a safe environment. I didn't know how people would respond but....they showed up! The first event we had 30 people, then the next 50, then 80, then 150 and at this last event in February, we had an attendance of 300 people! People are ready to be out and connect once again.

WHO ARE YOUR BIGGEST INFLUENCES?
I have so many....depends on what area of my life.
For my business, it would have to be Natalia Kern, Caloni Michelle, Marie Manalo, Sandi Glandt, Bethany Martinez, Stephanie Peters, Natalie Jill, and Chris Lee. All of these leaders have played a major part in my personal and professional life.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOU?
I'm currently in the process of creating a digital platform where people can access my online courses in English and Spanish, writing my second book, "Detoxify Your Relationships", and working on taking Epic Talks to another major city. I'm also on my journey to becoming an expert in digital marketing and continuing to impact men and women on a global scale. The sky is the limit and I'm excited for the future!
WHAT SPEAKS TO YOU MOST ABOUT SOCIAL?
Well, number one....ALL the flavors are delicious and it's hard to pick just one as my favorite! Number two, it's organic, gluten free and only 88 calories which blows my mind! It truly does not get better than that. I love drinking wine and this is my new go to favorite wine to drink. I've been raving about it and telling everyone.
